In early October the citizens of Lubbock and West Texas will experience the 2nd annual festival devoted to the exploding Wine Industry of Texas.  Wineries from throughout the state (currently 13 participating) will showcase their products for a 2-day event.  Attendees will be able to taste many vintages; and now with a new festival law in Texas, these wineries will be allowed to sell their products on-site by the glass, bottle, and case direct to the public.  The festival begins Saturday afternoon, Oct. 2 - (1:00 – 11:00pm), and continues Sunday, Oct. 3 (1:00 – 6:00).  The location is at East 19th Street and Canyon Lake Dr. at the American Wind Power Center also known as the Windmill Museum.  This exciting event will be held outdoors with 13 or more Texas wineries each sampling and selling many of their best vintages.  Free Parking will be available onsite!

This fun and exciting event will be raising funds for several local groups including:
Wounded Warrior Project, Hope Lodge, and Lubbock Meals on Wheels.

There’s more than just wine too!  Live Music including over 10 bands/individuals with a headliner concert by local sensation Tori Vasquez with her full band at 9:30 Sat. night.  Artist booths, food temptations with a special “cooking Demo tent by Carinos, and even beer tastings from Lubbock’s own Triple J Chophouse and Brewery will add great shopping and fun to this year’s event.

Lubbock is a “natural” location for a wine festival and the festival itself should develop over the next few years into one of the Premier Wine Events in the State.  The festival is promoting the ever expanding and extremely important Wine and Grape Industry of Texas.  There are now over 190 wineries recognized in Texas.  Locally, 5 wineries from the Lubbock High Plains area will be the true features of the festival.

Dan Henly, owner/manager of Southwestern Event Source, LLC, headquartered in Lubbock says “after 7 months of planning, things have come together to provide festival goers an extraordinary experience!  We’re getting 100% positive feedback and support from our Main Sponsor “LubbockGrapevine.com”, Triple J Chophouse and Brew Company, Carinos Italian Restaurant, Lubbock’s Visitors and Convention Bureau, Lubbock Chamber of Commerce, City Hall, Lubbock Parks and Rec., Lub. County Sheriff’s Reserve, and Fire Marshall’s offices Radio Lab, Arctic Ice and local rental services such as RSC rentals and Grady Henly Decorators.  The event wouldn’t be possible without the wonderful cooperation and efforts of the American Wind Power Center.

There will not be any activities for children this year.  This event is strictly for adults 21 years of age and older.  Adults may bring their children, but all children must stay with their parents at all times. Strollers will not roll well in the grassy/dirt areas where most wineries, artist and food booths will be located.
